Honor a Hero

Please Help a father grant his son, a soldier a Christmas Wish.

Today as one of my best friends Joe walked outside, his garbage man stopped as he does every wednesday morning. Joe waved hello, and the man walked over and said he had a favor to ask. He said that his son is serving in Afghanistan and when asked what he wanted for Christmas his son replied that all he wants is to walk around to his fellow soldiers and hand out morale-boosting letters on Christmas Day. So he asked me if Joe would write one letter. Joe immediately knew that this was bigger than just one letter. he made some calls to his friends and family asking them to write letters.

So we are asking you to help us. Please send an email to: dearhero2009@gmail.com. Your letter will be printed off and folded into an envelope and delivered to his son in Afghanistan by one of our friends. No postage required. Just an email.

Regardless of your politics or how you feel about any war, this is not about that. This is about a father trying to make his son’s Christmas wish come true.

We realize there are non-profit organizations that do this, and we fully support their incredible work. However this is just simply for a humble man to support his son who is thousands of miles away. He is expecting one letter on our porch next Wednesday morning. Let’s inundate him! Please send your email by Tuesday evening (November 24th) so we have time to print and stuff! And by all means, please forward this on to anyone you think might be interested in participating!

Slow down, you are moving too fast

The last 2 months have been a whirlwind of activity around here. Summer ended, I completed a photography workshop,  built a website, school started, birthdays, my Mom moved here to Sturbridge from San Diego,  and the kickoff season to my photography business exploded. Most importantly of course the day to day hustle and bustle of everyday life, breakfast, playtime, giggles, working on letters for school, more meals, soccer, bath time, story time….

Thursday night after putting the kids to bed and settling down at my computer for another long night of photo editing I realized I needed to slow down. Life is moving too fast. How was it posable that it was already Halloween?

What slows down life for you? What keeps you grounded in the present moment? I know for me my kids do it every time. When I am truly focused on them, life slows down and I am just present to the miracle of life and love. I look into their eyes or take them in my arms the chaos of everyday life disappears for me. This weekend I slowed down, I worked less and was just present.
