A quick update – my power and internet have been going in and out for the past few days making editing photos and reading email a huge challenge! Needless to say I am behind. To top it off I think my email has been high jacked! URG! If you sent me an email this past week chances are I have not received it. I also fear that emails I have sent are not getting to you. If you have not received a response from me please wait 24 hours while I sort out my email and send your email again, or contact me through facebook. I apologize for the inconvenience!

best friends | Boston photographer

The best kind of friend is the one you could sit on a porch with, never saying a word, and walk away feeling like that was the best conversation you’ve had.

~Author Unknown

My best friend and I live way to0 far from one another.  Just thinking about her wells my eyes with tears- I love her that much. Living 2000 miles apart we spend time together daily on the phone enjoying our morning coffee or over video chat. Tani and I always make time for each other and our sweet husbands totally get our friendship. They forgive us and just laugh when we don’t answer their calls because we are engrossed with our telephone conversations. We travel to see each other at least four times a year and do our best to fill each other up with girlfriend time, shopping, coffee, movies, wine, good food, laughter and pure joy. The distance has never put a dent in our friendship but there are times that it gets hard. Like when I wasn’t there to help pick out her wedding gown. Tani just gave birth to her third baby and it makes the distance hurt.

I think you are the bestest friend any woman could have. :) You are my soul mate. I am beyond thrilled for you and love that you are so happy in your life. You are married to an amazing man that adores you and seriously, can your children be any more gorgeous?

I want to be like you

Last week I had the pleasure of working with an amazing woman. Brenda is a friend,  mentor,  coach and one of the most generous people I know. I love every minute I spent with her and can’t get enough.

Thanks Brenda for being who you are, and the impact you make on those you love. I am so happy we had the chance to take a few photos of you. You are beautiful!

family vacation

“No matter what happens, travel gives you a story to tell.”

– Jewish Proverb

And I am very tardy in sharing my story and photos from my family vacation taken over a month ago. We stayed at Barcelo Family Deluxe all inclusive resort in Punta Canna. Our room was gorgeous and we stayed right next to the kids water park that was a huge hit with my little ones. The food wasn’t great but not bad either. None of this really mattered because I was just so happy to get away with my family and tune the rest of the world out. What a joy it was to just be with my husband and kids. I am not going to pretend the plane ride was a picnic or the kids didn’t squabble when they got over tired, but it was all totally worth the travel and discomfort to connect, giggle, play, swim, build sand castles, float in the ocean and fall asleep next to my family after a full day in the sun.

Truth be told, I didn’t take as many photos as I would have liked and many of them were taken with a point and shoot. **GASP** Carrying around my big camerea made me nervous at the resort and it seemed everytime I took it out we got a short rain shower. Not the kind of rain to ruin a vacation, but the kind that gets a camera wet.

When we pulled up the resort the kids immediately saw the water/splash park and couldn’t wait to get their feet wet. Alphonso played with them in the water while I checked us in. Already I was grateful we came watching my kids having a ball in the first 5 minutes of arrival.

Like most Moms who take the photos in the family I am in all of two photos from this vacation! Yikes-I must get better at turning over the camera even if the photos come back blurry!

Me and my little guy

My Favorite photo

The place I feel the best in the world is the ocean- it feeds my soul and heals everything.

We celebrated and cheered our guy on as he learned to swim on vacation! Worth the trip right there!

Dad and little AE swim up to the bar for a drink followed by a nap at the pool.

Daddy insisted that little J have her hair in braids. I was surprised she sat to have it done. Amazing what a bag of m&ms can do! She just loved looking at herself in the mirror!

Our vacation overlapped Nanny and Papa’s for a few days. Although they were staying at a different resort they came over and spent the day with us. We had such a wonderful time hanging with them in Punta Canna. Nanny was a good sport and had a few braids put in her hair on J’s request.

Afternoon play time at the kids water park

Papa and Alphonso. I just love this photo! Father like son?

The late afternoon brought rain on a few days, however that did not stop AE’s fun. Little J preferred to sit under shelter with a juice watching her brother.

Every afternoon we would go back to the room for some quiet time

The evening before we flew home little AE fell and busted open his chin *insert GASP*  I will save you from seeing those photos! We visited the onsite doctor, called our pediatrician and we were told that he really needed stitches. The emergency room pleasantly surprised us. It was clean, amazing friendly doctors who spoke english,  and best of all quick. They sent us home with a brave kid, 5 stitches, antibiotics and pain reliever.

The trip home was tough. We arrived at the airport to find we had a 6 hour delay and our reservation had changed. We arrived home at 3 am exhausted!

“A vacation frequently means that the family goes away for a rest, accompanied by mother, who sees that the others get it.”

– Marcelene Cox

I love that quote because it is so true! I can’t say I came home rested, but I would do again in a heartbeat! I have committed to yearly week vacations and a few long weekends away with my family.

tutu girls | Sturbridge Photographer

Posted on June 10, 2010

I have a friend that makes beautiful tutus. One unseasonable warm saturday in March I called Amy and she whipped a few up for our girls to play. Girls from the neighborhood ran to the yard to put a tutu on, play, dance and giggle.

Thank you Amy the tutu’s are beautiful and I cant wait to photograph them again now that it is warmer.

To order  a custom tutu please email Amy mgandrsmith@gmail.com

Late March we were blessed with a warm glorious day. AE and I packed up the kids and headed out for the day. We tasted the first ice cream cones of the season,  and we were refreshed knowing spring would soon be here. Unfortunately it didnt come fast enough, but now summer is here! To celebrate the 90 degree weather we are having I thought I would cool down with an ice cream cone.

I admit it… I watch American Idol

Posted on May 13, 2010

I watch American Idol. I like watching the transformation each singer goes through as they step into their greatness and find themselves as an artist. I must admit that I also get  a lot of the enjoyment  from listening to my husbands commentary through it all. He makes me laugh out loud because he thinks he is so funny! This week America is down to 3 contestants who will be visiting their home towns.

My favorite artist: LEE-a paint salesman to ARTIST

and I just loved the duet this week with Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox. I predict them to be the top 2 standing.
