“I’m tired,” + “I don’t feel well” = fatigue

Last week I saw this twitter update  and it really got me thinking. How often do I say “I’m tired?” Truth be told, TOO MUCH! I use “I’m too tired” when I am resisting something I need to do, especially when that something is creative. I also use it when the thing I need to do seems too big or daunting.

Does what we say to ourselves really play a role in or health and how we feel? Most of us believe that what we say to others matter, right? We can empower or bring others down by our words and our tonality. Wouldn’t that also stand true with the words we say internally to ourselves? How about if we say the same words or phrases over and over again? We know telling a child she is dumb conditions a child to grow up  not believing in herself. How about the words you say to yourself? Do you have a spell you put on  yourself everyday that helps determine how you feel? Most of us do. How do we break the spell? And is it as easy as just  not saying it?

Maybe it would be naive to say that if we just stop saying we feel bad or that we are tired it will go away. At the same time, I am wondering if there was ever a time you were physically exhausted and engaged 100% in doing something you just loved? In those moments did you feel tired? Or did the time just fly by?

What does all this mean? What I have found that my MINDSET-whatever I am focusing on +  LANGUAGE I use +  how I use my BODY =  HOW I FEEL.

I would love to share with you a strategy I use to move past “I’m too tired.”

  1. Think of  a specific time you use ”I’m too tired.”  What are the patterns or triggers that have “I’m too tired” come up?
  2. Notice what are you resisting when you feel tired.
  3. Ask: How do you want to feel right now? What is my outcome? Why is this important to me?
  4. What do I need to focus on right now to feel this way?
  5. What do I need to say to myself right now?
  6. How do I need to stand? move? breath? and use my body right now to feel this way?
  7. What action can I take right now to move me closer to what I want?

Bonus: What would happen if you just took “I’m too tired” out of your vocabulary? Challenge: Take it out for the next week and watch to see the change!

Please leave a comment or a question. I would love to hear from you.

Trip to San Diego

I am leaving for San Diego today and will return next Tuesday. Many of you know that in addition to my photography I am also a life coach working for Mr. Robbins’ company Robbins Research International.  I am looking forward to a great training with Tony Robbins, some much needed girlfriend time with Tani and a day with my good friend and photography mentor Christa. I cant wait to post the photos when I return.

I love this video of Tony. Stay awhile and check it out!

Mom 2.0: Defining moment

Please watch the video below. It will be the best 2:41 seconds you have had all week. I watched many times and each time it moved me to tears. I thought, this is it, this is exactly how I feel.

This video puts my thoughts, heart and desires for my children into powerful words. As a mom we go through extreme emotions. Sometimes I feel on top of the world, I laugh and giggle with my  little ones, I have faith that I am a good mom and at other times I feel guilt that I am not doing enough, or am I doing the right thing? After watching this video I felt affirmed and inspired to be even more for them. At the the same time I think I also forgave some of my struggles and reminded me that the powerful love I have for them is enough…..

Sarah-running for cover-melanoma foundation

running for cover-marathon

My friend Sarah will be running the Boston Marathon on behave of the Melanoma Foundation. The Melanoma Foundation of New England is on the forefront of the fight against Melanoma each day. Every kind donation will go directly to the foundation to support the early detection and prevention programs as well as provide assistance to families dealing with a melanoma diagnosis.

Please visit Sarah’s site, read her story and make a donation for the cause. I know we are all pinching our pennies a bit more these days but even a small donation makes a difference.

Pam we love you!

My family is very blessed to have our dear friend Pam in our lives. Pam has been caring for my children for four years since my son was a year old. She is the most amazing woman, mom, and friend. She cares for my children like they are her own and I trust her with their lives. Pam takes care of all of us helping with the meals, dealing with the witching hour tantrums, doing dishes, making up games, playing the same made up stories day after day, creating crafts, legos, kid snot and even diapering my children with cloth! Every birthday and holiday she pays special attention to the little things and brings my children gifts they treasure. She knits them spiderman hats, gorgeous flower hats, and even make Miss J barrettes.

Pam you are a gift to us and we are forever grateful for you. We love you!

Pam made each of these gifts for my family. What is even more amazing is that she made them with only 5 fingers. Pam was born with 2 fingers on one hand and 3 on the other. Pam you are very talented! Everyday you amaze me. Thank you for all you do for us. I love you! xoxo
